The range of nearby activities is as impressive as The Yorke Arms itself:
Horse Racing . Just an hour's drive away is Middleham, known as the "Newmarket of the North." There are also fine race courses at Catterick, Ripon, Wetherby, York, Beverley, Redcar and finally Doncaster, home of the world's oldest flat race, the St Leger.
Climbing and caving . Plumpton Rocks, Brimham Rocks, Stump Cross Caverns, How Stean Gorge (Yorkshire's "Little Switzerland"), and a whole area of pot-holing throughout the limestone of the Yorkshire Dales.
Golf . Yorkshire has 156 golf courses, three of which - Moortown (Leeds), Lindrick (south-east of Sheffield), and Ganton (near Scarborough) - have hosted the Ryder Golf Cup... a golfer's paradise!
