Bird Watching

Yorkshire's Moors and Dales can be accurately described as a "Twitcher's" paradise. (In Britain, Twitcher is the endearing name often given to a bird watching enthusiast.) Within flat walking distance from The Yorke Arms is Gouthwaite Reservoir, famous throughout England for the teeming wildlife and stopping-off point for migrating birds. Staveley Nature Reserve near Boroughbridge is noted for both birds and butterflies.

See birds and wildlife at Bempton Cliff, an RSPB nature reserve near Bridlington. Wetland birds can be seen at Fairburns Ings near Castleford.
